Sixth generation farmer Charles has continued in his forebear’s innovative spirit and branch away from traditional sheep farming into premium wine grapes. Our vineyard is set on the sloping hills directly above the Derwent River. The cool winters and dry summers at ‘Glenelg’, along with plentiful water, and high quality volcanic soils are ideal for growing grapes. A mix of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Gris were the first to be planted over 20 hectares in 2017. The success of these saw a further 15 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay planted in 2023.

Glenelg continues to be a family business employing a small but dedicated team with strong focus on long term sustainability.

For generations we have been actively protecting the natural environment through conservation of native bush, control of introduced weeds, and excluding livestock from riverside areas.
